Rizoma Architetture’s EVENT_IDENTICITY| Shaping the Urban Transformation

9 April 2026

For Rizoma Architetture, IDENTICITY is a statement. It means recognizing that every place holds a living soul, made of memories, transformations, and traces. Designing is about entering into a relationship, allowing oneself to be guided by what already exists, restoring meaning before form.

In this sense, IDENTICITY aligns with the theme of Italian Design Day 2026: “Re-Design. Regenerating spaces, objects, ideas, relations.” Rizoma puts this into practice through its methodological approach of “preserving, layering, returning.” The goal? “Reclaiming spaces”, which becomes a delicate, almost intimate gesture: not to conquer, but to give back. Because every story belongs to all of us.

In the projects Jo&Joe Roma, CX Bicocca, and TSH Bologna, this vision takes shape. The layered history of three monumental buildings—marked by diverse pasts, sometimes glorious, sometimes degraded—is transformed by Rizoma into hybrid, open spaces where functions and lives intertwine freely. Because identity is never pure, but alive, imperfect, made of overlaps and scars. And it is precisely in this imperfection that its most authentic value lies: preserving the identity of places does not mean protecting them from change, but allowing them to continue evolving.
