With MOKO Hotel, the concept of Hybrid Hospitality is reinterpreted through an interior design project that pushes beyond the boundaries of the traditional hotel experience. Alongside the conventional spaces of hospitality — guestrooms, restaurant and cocktail bar — an unexpected and distinctive element takes centre stage: a fully operational professional tattoo studio. The narrative concept, developed by Nicola Delvecchio (Teamwork Hospitality) and embraced by the ownership, forms the foundation of the project’s identity.
The tattoo studio unfolds as an alcove immersed in vibrant pink and purple tones: a space suspended between theatrical scenography and contemporary ritual. Here, design takes on playful, almost anthropomorphic forms — sofas with animated-looking legs, soft seating evoking lips poised for a kiss, metallic walls punctuated by arches and curtains. An amorphous rug appears to float beneath a fuchsia neon glow, while a chandelier reminiscent of a fairground spaceship boldly reveals the spirit of the place. In the background, the black professional tattoo bed emerges as the silent protagonist of a theatrical setting.
The tattoo studio becomes the narrative thread running throughout the entire hotel, resurfacing discreetly yet consistently through graphic motifs and soft-tribal patterns applied across walls and columns. This subtle reference contributes to a layered and coherent identity, intertwining with an aesthetic inspired by Pop Art and the more experimental expressions of 1960s design: mirrors with undulating profiles, soft and rounded furnishings, sculptural side tables and corridors animated by psychedelic patterns.
Balancing this creative energy is a refined and restrained palette composed of cerulean blues, sage greens and natural tones, paired with materials that convey a sense of contemporary elegance. Chestnut wood dialogues with light ceramic tiles, while the terracotta-clad counter — reminiscent of a contemporary reinterpretation of traditional Romagna latticework — evokes local craftsmanship. Terrazzo surfaces, meanwhile, recall the visual language of the 1960s.
Throughout the project, subtle references emerge to the golden years of the Romagna Riviera — a territory that built its identity on the ability to reinvent itself by interpreting the desires and trends of the Italian summer across generations. MOKO embraces this legacy and projects it into the present, shaping a destination that celebrates the intersection of lifestyle, design, entertainment and hospitality.
