UNFOLD Returns to Bologna: A Dialogue Between Architecture, Design and Innovation

UNFOLD, the event dedicated to fostering dialogue between architecture, design and innovation, returns to Bologna. Promoted by Rizoma Architetture, Riluce, WeDoLab and Peplo.me, the event takes place during Cersaie – the International Exhibition of Ceramic Tile and Bathroom Furnishings, scheduled from 21 to 25 September 2026 at BolognaFiere.

Now in its fourth edition, and for the first time officially included in the BOLD circuit, which certifies the 2026 Off Cersaie programme, UNFOLD brings together architects, designers, companies and industry professionals for an evening of inspiration, discussion and meaningful connections that shape the future of contemporary design.

The event will take place on Tuesday, 22 September, at 5:30 PM, at Via Zanolini 15, Bologna.

At the heart of the evening will be the THE PLAN Design Talk, with THE PLAN once again serving as the event’s media partner. Titled DNA = Design + Nature + Architecture, the discussion will explore architecture as a transformative force—one that shapes the way we live, work and interact with our surroundings, creating meaningful places that generate identity, foster relationships and deliver lasting value.

The talk will be followed by an exclusive networking aperitivo in the UNFOLD Garden Square, an outdoor setting designed to encourage conversation, connect professionals and spark new collaborations in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

UNFOLD 2026 will also invite guests to experience the DNA House, an immersive installation within Rizoma Architetture’s studio that brings the theme Design + Nature + Architecture to life through a fully inhabitable environment. Four iconic settings—Kitchen Inspiring, Lounge Relax, Self-Care Corner, and Bedroom Nest—will present a new vision of living, where materials, nature and design come together to inspire wellbeing, human connection and fresh perspectives on contemporary architecture.

The experience will be further enriched by a live art performance by artist Simone Brillarelli, who will create an original artwork on canvas throughout the evening, offering visitors the opportunity to witness the artistic process in real time. A curated selection of artworks provided by Galleria d’Arte Il Vicolo will complete the event’s artistic narrative.

Once again, UNFOLD positions itself as an exclusive platform for exchange and collaboration—a place to explore the transformations reshaping the way we live and work. The Design Talk will feature leading international architecture practices and distinguished industry voices. Confirmed speakers include NOA, the Bolzano-based practice with offices in Milan, internationally recognised for its multidisciplinary approach combining architecture, interior design and hospitality; Assadi + Pulido, the Chilean practice with strong Italian roots led by architect Felipe Assadi, one of the most influential figures in contemporary international architecture; and Ilaria Nava, founder of the eponymous studio renowned for creating contemporary spaces designed in perfect harmony with their natural surroundings.

The panel will also feature Florim, a leading Italian manufacturing company with a strong commitment to architectural design, and WeDo Holding, a company specialising in real estate development and interior contract projects. Bringing together professionals from diverse backgrounds with extensive expertise, the panel will offer a unique opportunity to compare visions, methodologies and future scenarios under the moderation of Giovanni Franceschelli, founder of Rizoma Architetture.
