Azur Hotel

In Melide (CH), on the shores of Lake Lugano, Rizoma Architetture has developed the interior design project for Azur Hotel, a 4-star superior Design & Lifestyle hotel that reinterprets contemporary hospitality through a dynamic balance of elegance, rich materials and bold pop accents.

The project encompasses every area of the hotel — from the lobby to its 32 rooms and suites, from the restaurant to the lakeside Beach Lounge and the rooftop dedicated to dining and events — creating a distinctive identity for a destination designed to bring together leisure and business. A place to connect, work and rediscover a sense of calm in the embrace of the lake and its natural surroundings.

The aesthetic is defined by an intense dialogue between precious materials and deliberately contemporary, contrasting details. In the lobby, the marble reception desk and dark, slatted wood wall cladding establish an atmosphere of sophisticated elegance, while deep red velvet armchairs and the damask upholstery of the central sofa introduce an almost theatrical note. Contemporary artworks, dramatic chandeliers and illuminated niches in fluorescent shades of electric blue and fuchsia temper these bold expressions of luxury, bringing vibrant colour contrasts to the space.

Above all, however, what defines Azur Hotel’s contemporary aesthetic is the dominant presence of flowing, sinuous curves. Rounded corners, soft volumes and sculptural surfaces recur at every scale: from the furniture — armchairs, chairs and coffee tables — to the architectural elements, from the bar counter and columns to the niches and ceiling grooves. These fluid forms flow seamlessly into one another, tracing a continuous line that guides the eye and shapes the perception of space. Integrated, diffused lighting follows these geometries, accentuating their volumes and depth.

The same distinctive identity carries through to the rooms and suites, where refined, luxurious finishes meet a bold, dynamic pop aesthetic.
