Living Place is a hotel located on the outskirts of Bologna, where the interior design — curated by Rizoma Architetture — transforms space into a narrative tool, telling a story of functional identity and hospitality. The hotel is, in fact, a contemporary conference hub near Bologna’s exhibition district, strategically positioned just 1 km from the A14 motorway exit, making it ideal for business travellers. This distinctly pragmatic soul is carefully balanced and softened by a sense of warm, comfortable hospitality that permeates its interiors.
The first impression is that of a contemporary, clean and airy aesthetic, enriched by subtle retro accents: a form of minimalism that sits midway between the essential language of modern furnishings and an abundance of references to the “pop-geometric” taste of the 1920s and 1960s. Bedside lamps recall an industrial vintage style, the tightly gridded wallpaper textures evoke Optical Art, while the artworks on the walls pay homage to Postmodern and Memphis design. A recurring presence of sharp, black, perpendicular lines runs along the walls, creating a playful contrast of forms and proportions with the softer, rounded lines of the furniture — from bed headboards to mirrors, side tables and armchairs.
The colour palette is guided by a sense of balance and calm, inviting relaxation: light shades of taupe, beige and neutral tones envelop the spaces, generating a soft, natural luminosity that flows through the corridors and into the guestrooms. Subtle yet distinctive chromatic variations — in peacock green and small accents of orange — draw the eye, adding character to the rooms and enhancing their overall harmony.
In particular, the new Icon Prestige rooms, designed by the studio, stand as a clear statement of style: environments where technology, comfort and visual language converge to deliver a complete sensory experience.
At Living Place Hotel, every detail is carefully conceived to shape an environment that functions as a tranquil retreat — removed from the pace of the city, yet deeply attuned to the needs of its guests. This reflects Rizoma Architetture’s vision of contemporary hospitality: a balance between minimalist elegance, refined functionality and emotional engagement.
