I PORTICI HOTEL

I Portici Hotel represents an important landmark in the panorama of hospitality and hospitality in the city of Bologna. Located in the heart of the historic center, a short walk from the train station and major monuments, the hotel is a jewel of style and elegance, occupying the five floors of Palazzo Maccaferri, a 19th-century building constructed between Via Indipendenza, the Pincio Steps and the Montagnola Gardens.

Opened in 2007, I Portici Hotel offers a compelling customer experience through the harmony of the rooms, the charm of the 1,500 square meters of Art Nouveau frescoes, aromas, design, art, food and textiles going on to create a new idea of hotel accommodation open to Italian and international tourists.

The 90-room facility presented its expansion and restyling of its accommodation facilities to the city in September 2019: 11 new rooms (10 of which were designed by Rizoma Architectures) of ample square footage, carved out of the structure adjacent to the historic location of Palazzo Maccaferri, connected by a charming green area, overlooking the 17th-century church of San Benedetto. This expansion work was accompanied by the revamping of 25 standard rooms carried out by our firm, with the renovation of furnishings and services, following the stylistic line of minimal and contemporary comfort that has always characterized I Portici Hotel.

For the design of the revamped rooms, Rizoma Architectures used contemporary materials for the main furnishings: headboard bed, open closet with integrated desk, and ottoman. The refined design and warm colors, mixed with precious lighting elements reflect the style of the entire hotel, respecting and enhancing the pre-existence. Artworks, already present in the rooms have been relocated and integrated with more contemporary styling elements.

Attention to detail, minimal and elegant design, and functionality are the basic principles of this important project.

Attention to detail, minimalist and elegant design

The design of the 10 new rooms is conceived in continuity, in terms of design and materials, with the revamping project of the existing 25 rooms. The design is based on the presence of large windows that make the rooms extremely bright, some facing directly onto the monumental Via Indipendenza, others more interior facing terraces. These, like secret gardens, give the guest an unexpected view in a metropolitan hotel. The 10 new rooms, 6 superior double rooms, 3 family rooms and 1 suite, while differing in terms of square footage and capacity are nevertheless linked by a unique and strongly recognizable style.

Larger rooms, equipped with a sofa bed, capable of accommodating up to 4 people are designed to have a fairly defined sleeping and living area, the latter featuring a faux leather sofa, a metal coffee table, and a comfortable armchair is also perfect business clientele. The presence of large TV screens embedded in custom panels allows for conference calls. Technical and decorative lighting come together in creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere, giving preference to diffuse rather than direct lighting, to warm rather than cool tones. The lighting fixtures chosen, complement the styling choices that give a contemporary and fashionable mood even in a historical context such as Palazzo Maccaferri. The rooms are cozy and functional, expressing an excellent mix of classic yet trendy style aligned with the most contemporary hotellerie trends.
