THE SOCIAL HUB FLORENCE BELFIORE

The Social Hub Firenze Belfiore is one of the most significant recent urban regeneration projects in Florence. Built on a disused site in the heart of the San Jacopino district, the development stands in a strategic area near the future high-speed rail station and the tramway connection to the airport.

In this evolving urban scenario, Rizoma Architetture developed the interior design concept and the project for the large rooftop park, shaping a multifaceted and innovative intervention that connects architecture, urban landscape, and new forms of social interaction.

Rizoma Architetture’s design approach is rooted in the principle of Design for People, with the aim of placing the individual and their relationship with space at the center. Every environment is designed to foster interaction and a sense of community, maintaining strong coherence between public and private spaces, indoors and outdoors. The reading of the urban context—Florence as a city of creativity, culture, and craftsmanship—becomes the foundation of the project, guiding formal and material choices in a contemporary and sustainable key.

The interior identity is defined by durable, authentic materials: marble, terracotta, reclaimed stone, and natural finishes interact with light and the flow of people, creating warm, elegant, and functional spaces. Rizoma Architetture focuses on the quality of experience, designing fluid pathways, distinctive architectural elements, and rest areas that encourage sharing and everyday well-being.

On the first floor, over 3,200 sqm of coworking space form a true creative hub, articulated around inner courtyards and sculptural volumes. On the fourth floor, the rooftop park designed by Rizoma Architetture unfolds as a suspended urban landscape, open to the public and conceived to promote physical, mental, and social connections. With more than 7,000 sqm of surface area and a selection of over 60 plant species, it represents a unique case at the national level.

With The Social Hub Firenze Belfiore, Rizoma Architetture reaffirms its commitment to designing complex spaces that are fully integrated into the urban fabric and conceived to generate cultural, environmental, and social value. A project that blends vision and concreteness, design and community.
