WONDERLAND

Wonderland is a showroom and design hub in the heart of Lugano, but above all it is a manifesto of interior design. Conceived to surprise, spark creativity and transform every visit into an immersive experience, it is a place where every element contributes to a narrative shaped by contrasts, materials and sensory perceptions.

The interior design developed by Rizoma Architetture interprets the concept of Wonderland as a gateway to another dimension, where different aesthetic languages coexist in an unexpected balance. Minimalism engages in dialogue with pop culture, industrial elements meet floral references, while metallic surfaces alternate with fabrics, lush greenery and contemporary artworks. The result is a highly distinctive environment that surprises without ever feeling accidental.

Wonderland’s fully glazed façade immediately establishes a strong visual identity. The entrance is dominated by a large sculptural metal reception desk with flowing, organic lines. Beside it, an imposing metal cylinder, lined internally in a vibrant shade of yellow, encloses an intimate lounge: a secluded nook that creates a striking perspective while offering a sense of comfort and privacy.

Rather than being organised into rigidly defined rooms, the space is articulated through installations and furnishings that continuously generate new settings and spatial experiences. Meeting areas emerge beneath suspended pergolas draped with abundant vegetation, while acoustic curtains provide privacy, creating enclosed environments without interrupting the visual continuity of the space. Soft, curvilinear sofas, contemporary artworks, rugs inspired by astronomical imagery and bold graphic patterns contribute to a dynamic, multisensory atmosphere.

The journey continues on the lower ground floor, home to the Material Bank, a space that completely overturns visitors’ perception of the environment. Conceived as a true vault, it safeguards the most precious element of every design project: material itself—the primary source of creativity. Here, an extensive collection of samples, finishes, artworks and design references is displayed within a monumental library that almost entirely envelops the walls. A mirrored ceiling amplifies perspectives and dissolves spatial boundaries, while lighting becomes the director of the experience. Thanks to a fully programmable RGB system, the atmosphere can be continuously transformed, turning the vault into an ever-changing sequence of scenarios that enhance the materials and constantly redefine their perception.

Wonderland is far more than a showroom. It demonstrates how interior design can become a powerful medium for storytelling, experimentation and human connection—a place where every design decision invites visitors to explore new imaginaries and alternative worlds, experiencing design as an immersive journey.
