Piazza Riforma Apartments

In the heart of Lugano, within a historic palazzo overlooking Piazza Riforma, a contemporary vision of living takes shape through an interior design project defined by understated, timeless elegance. Designed by Rizoma Architetture, the interiors combine formal rigour, rich materiality and domestic warmth to shape the building’s new residences, conceived for short- and mid-term stays. The project interprets a new hospitality model through the concept of branded residences.

The design language is rooted in the dialogue between crisp geometries, clean-lined volumes and gently rounded edges, softened by a palette of mature, desaturated tones. Light colours dominate the walls and ceilings, enhanced by recurring mouldings and geometric and floral motifs that bring depth and decorative rhythm to the spaces. A discreet form of luxury emerges, expressed through the quality of proportions and meticulous attention to detail rather than ostentation.

The identity of the interiors is defined by the material contrast between dark wood furnishings with pronounced grain patterns and herringbone-laid oak parquet flooring, which introduces a refined, natural texture. Metallic accents in bronze and deep brown tones complement the enveloping softness of velvet upholstery and the pearlescent surface of a rug with a short, velvety pile. Each element contributes to a sophisticated composition in which material richness is expressed through carefully balanced combinations and thoughtfully crafted details.

Lighting completes and enhances the design. Warm and diffused, it is distributed through strategically positioned light sources that highlight the most precious surfaces and guide the eye through a sequence of details and visual impressions. This atmosphere is enriched by decorative accents that evoke an Oriental aesthetic inspired by Chinese art and culture, interpreted with a cultured, almost dreamlike sensibility. Artwork featuring zoomorphic figures and delicate, minimalist pendant lights with linen-paper shades introduce a subtle exotic touch, creating moments of surprise without disrupting the overall harmony.

Piazza Riforma Apartments embody a balance between classical and contemporary, rigour and softness, simplicity and ornament. These branded residences offer an intimate, authentic expression of luxury, transforming the quality of materials and attention to detail into an everyday experience of beauty, comfort and warmth.
