Built in the peri-urban belt of a small town in the province of Bologna, this duplex accommodates three households in two units.
An NZEB building composed of pure volumes, two parallelepipeds stacked and slid over each other to open large telescopes facing the plain and, in the distance, the skyline of the Apennines. The duplex is built entirely of wood, has a photovoltaic system of about 10 kw arranged on the flat roof, large south-facing windows that function as solar greenhouses during the winter, while in the warm months they are screened by sunshade systems.
The households consist of one family with children and two single-person households: the parental bond makes these between families a small community, which has chosen to live not completely isolated, but close to an urban center with all services.
A contemporary art museum, a music school designed by one of Italy’s leading architects, a historic center embellished by the charm of porticoes, old taverns and new markets: the context of Casa GF is no longer that of the villettopoli, but certainly that of the good life in the Po Valley province, less than 30 minutes from the center of Bologna.
An ideal place to raise your children, go to work and come home for lunch, or carve out a hyper-connected space to work at home: Casa GF is the “media house” in the Po Valley countryside, not isolated but with all services within biking distance.
