The project concerns a single-family residential unit built in 2018 and located in a newly expanding context of the Bolognese plain, characterized by tall buildings and one- and two-family houses.
The two-story house has the living area open to the outdoor garden that surrounds the entire property up to the border to the countryside; the living area is designed as a double volume open to the sky, so that from the living room sofa you can see the moon shining.
The house, built for a living nucleus of 4 people, was designed to be a space with a dual function: living and working, for that very reason in fact it presents on the ground floor a day/night space for study and work and on the second floor a playroom ideal both for those who work from home and for those who need a place for their children to play and have fun.
The building structure was built with vertical and horizontal wooden panels using X-LAM technology, the 18-cm insulation coat is made of high-density mineral fiber panels, triple-glazed wood-aluminum window frames with thermal insulation performance in line with passive house parameters. Conceived as a single monochromatic volume, covered spaces (loggias) were carved out of it, born by subtraction as hollowed-out parts of the volume, creating a chromatic contrast also thanks to the shadowy areas and broken lines of the short fronts.
The building is designed to meet the regulatory requirements of NZEB near-zero energy structures in class A4, a result achieved through proper orientation within the lot and the use of energy produced by a 6 Kw photovoltaic system. The construction took a total of 8 months, of which only 5 months were needed to build and complete the two floors of the house.
